The "Great Resignation", coined by Anthony Klotz, professor of management at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, in May 2021, also known as the "Big Quit" and the "Great Reshuffle" is an ongoing economic trend in which employees have voluntarily resigned from their jobs en masse, beginning in early 2021. Possible causes include wage stagnation amid rising cost of living, long-lasting job dissatisfaction and the desire to work for companies with better remote-working policies.
The Great Resignation is maybe a form of radical shift that calls for a more meaningful work/life balance, a more sustainable career path, a more truthful way of looking at what we are and what we do. It certainly echoes with the work I do as a Career Coach when I help my clients create an exciting vision for their future and define the projects that lead to it. It offers them a space to think and to know what they want to do, beyond what they simply can do.
