Public speaking remains one of the most daunting challenges for professionals worldwide. Studies indicate that nearly 75% of people experience some level of anxiety when speaking publicly, often driven by fear of judgement, a sense of vulnerability, or the pressure to convey complex ideas with clarity and impact. In fact, the ability to communicate confidently and effectively in front of an audience is increasingly non-negotiable for professionals across roles and industries.


For students, learning public speaking skills early in their careers offers substantial advantages. Research from Linked In and the National Association of Colleges and Employers shows that communication skills are one of the most sought-after qualities in job candidates. A professional’s ability to articulate ideas, motivate teams, and present complex data clearly can directly influence career progression. Data from Harvard University underscores this, with findings that suggest employees with strong communication skills are 44% more likely to be promoted into leadership positions.


Training in public speaking offers students a foundation of confidence that extends far beyond the podium. As students practice speaking in front of an audience, they sharpen critical thinking skills, hone their capacity to structure and convey ideas, and become more adept at reading and responding to audience cues. This hands-on experience fosters resilience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence—qualities essential in the modern workplace, especially in cross-functional and international teams.

Returning to teaching in a dynamic, international setting like EADA Business School has been deeply rewarding. I am thrilled to share my 25 years of experience with an eager, global cohort of over 100 students in the Global Bachelor of Business Administration (GBBA) program. The energy of the diverse classroom, with students hailing from various cultural backgrounds and professional aspirations, enriches our discussions and offers a unique perspective on the power of effective communication. It is an honor to guide future leaders in mastering a skill that is as universally challenging as it is profoundly rewarding.
